As part of our corporate social responsibility programme, we were recently pleased to be able to support three very worthwhile causes close to our northern and southern offices.
We made a donation to Middlesbrough Foodbank and Slough Foodbank and gave money to a community interest group which puts on circus shows in Slough for disadvantaged families.
Our donation to Slough Foodbank weighed 209kg. Approximately 10kg of essential food items and 1kg of toiletry items provide a single person with three days of emergency supplies.
In a letter to Eton, Slough Foodbank Communications and Project Manager Becks Ford, said: “Each gift makes an enormous difference to families and individuals who are most in need in our local community.
“Your support is needed now more than ever. Slough Foodbank statistics show a shocking increase in the number of people needing help, with 21% more food parcels distributed in 2023 versus 2022. A total of 11,300 food parcels in 2023.”
Our other donation went to Circus Starr, an organisation we are proud to have supported since 2008. In addition to funding tickets, we also donated to the collation of a sensory pack which was given to attendees.
The pack explains the sensory changes people can experience in the run-up to the performance and is aimed at those who have profound and multiple learning difficulties. It has also proven useful for some children who have autism.
In a letter to Eton, Circus Starr’s Communication and Engagement Assistant Demi Johnson said: “the show successfully went ahead and all of the feedback we have had has been amazing, the children absolutely loved it!
“It has also come to our attention that you were one of our top supporters in the area. So, we just wanted to say a big thank you again and let you know how much we appreciate your support.”
