City of London

Eton Environmental Group has worked with the City of London Corporation since 2004, providing asbestos consultancy services, including at well-known buildings such as The Old Bailey and Tower Bridge.

The Client:

The City of London Corporation is the governing body of the Square Mile in the Capital. It looks after and promotes the City of London, providing local government services for residents and City workers based in the Square Mile. It also looks after more than 11,000 acres of green spaces, wholesale food markers, housing across London, a range of schools and academies and is London’s Port Health Authority.

The Work:

Eton has provided asbestos consultancy services, including surveying and air monitoring, on various projects since 2004, with tenders being completed every four years.

These projects encompass a wide range of property portfolios, including housing blocks, public buildings, police stations and high-profile buildings such as the Guildhall, The Old Bailey and Tower Bridge.

In 2014 Eton were employed by City of London Corporation to undertake asbestos management surveys to 13 residential blocks which form part of the Barbican Estate in London. These residential blocks comprise of over 2,000 flats which house over 4,000 residents.

All surveys were carried out and completed to the City of London’s requirements and completed by the agreed project completion date. Since completion of the various residential blocks and complexes City of London require Eton Environmental to complete re-inspection surveys on an annual basis alongside many management and refurbishment asbestos surveys to various flats/bedsits within the blocks.

As part of this contract, we provided asbestos consultancy services including:

In 2020 Eton Environmental went on again to win a City of London Tender to include conducting

• Asbestos management surveys to residential and communal areas within the estates of City of London.

• Refurbishment or Demolition surveys requiring minor works
• Refurbishment or Demolition surveys requiring major works
• Project management
• Analytical Services

Currently Eton Environmental carry out consultancy work at 400 housing properties and 150 commercial properties. Due to the security requirements at some of these high-profile buildings, our staff completed the required security clearances and work in line with a contract-specific code of conduct at all times.
