CASE STUDIES

Sheffield City Council

Eton Environmental Group has worked with Sheffield City Council since 2018, providing a range of asbestos management services on a range of properties owned by the authority, including homes and schools.

The Client:

Sheffield City Council provides hundreds of services to people living in the metropolitan area of Sheffield and employs around 8,000 people. It oversees the running of state schools in its role as Local Education Authority and manages housing and other property.

The Work:

In 2018, Eton Environmental Group was successful in its tender for asbestos refurbishment and demolition surveys, along with asbestos project management of removals/abatements and analytical services.

The tender, which has now been extended until 2022, includes a wide-ranging property portfolio with Eton providing the following services:

  • Pre-start up meetings for works
  • Progress and completion meetings
  • Close down lessons learnt meetings
  • Management, refurbishment and demolition surveys
  • Asbestos re-inspection surveys
  • Asbestos awareness training
  • Emergency 4-hour or 24-hour call outs
  • Bulk sampling
  • Air monitoring
  • Collating and production of documentation
  • Project management of removal works.

To provide an efficient service throughout, we provide access to our own Electronic Asbestos Management System (TEAMS), which enables Sheffield City Council to access contract-specific asbestos records, management information, clear audit trails and works progress.

Following completion on-site and bulk analysis by our in-house UKAS accredited lab; survey reports including plans, are issued to Sheffield City Council within agreed timescales and to meeting all agreed deadlines.

Every effort is made to leave buildings we survey in a clean and good state of repair following works, including the use of polythene, vacuums, discrete sampling and using MDF panels to seal any holes following investigations.

The Client’s View:

James Payton-Greene, from Sheffield City Council, said: “Eton have consistently performed well and delivered throughout the course of this contract and have always acted in the interests of the client and individual end users.

“Eton have a dedicated team who deal with all aspects of delivery; and they resolve issues swiftly and without fuss. Eton produce all documentation required and are flexible when using different formats to suit the client.”
