Eton Environmental Group was delighted to take part in an annual charity football tournament recently.
We entered a team in the Baker Mallett five-a-side tournament in Manchester, which this year was in aid of Macmillan Nurses.
We were among 18 teams of property professionals who raised a fantastic £2,400 for this well-known charity.
Eton Director Christian Shaefer said: “We didn’t win the tournament, unfortunately, but it was all about taking part and supporting a great event for charity.”
Cheryl Jenkinson, from Macmillan Nurses, commented, ‘’We are delighted that Baker Mallett selected us as their chosen charity partner for their annual football tournament.
“At Macmillan, our ambition is to be there for the 1000’s of people in the UK who are diagnosed with cancer each and every day.
“The sad truth is, at the moment Macmillan can only be there for one in four people with cancer due to lack of funds. As 98% of our income comes from generous businesses and supporters, these funds make a huge difference and allow us to be able to support people living with cancer.
“The £2,400 raised will help fund our nurses, our support workers, our information managers and our service teams”
Chris Pasquill, Executive Partner at Baker Mallett added “This event has fast become one of our favourite days of the year. To see so many people joining in for an afternoon of fun but with an added purpose is wonderful to see. Over the last 4 years we have raised £10,000 from this event alone and it’s been shared between charities that mean something personally to our team. It’s our pleasure to host and we are already looking forward to next year”
