Warm the hearts

Sponsorship from Eton Environmental Group is helping warm the hearts of teenage footballers – as well as their parents!

Our donation has paid for padded coats featuring Darlington TSC club colours and logo, ensuring the U14 squad keep warm when travelling to games and training sessions or as substitutes on the sidelines.

“Winters can get cold in the North East so this generous gesture is much appreciated by the club, players and parents alike,” said U14s Coach Andi Forrest.

The team play in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance against teams from across Teesside, North Yorkshire and County Durham and Andi believes squad kit plays an important part in team bonding.

“We are an inclusive club. and our aim is that all children should have the same kit irrespective of financial circumstances and this helps us to do that,” said Andi.

“We try to encourage a togetherness and team ethos. That’s also helped by everyone turning up in the same kit rather than a mixture of Liverpool, Manchester United or other colours.”

The donation to the club is part of Eton’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme which sees the company supporting grassroots sports, charities, food banks and other not-for-profit organisations in its operating areas.

It also makes donations, via requests from current customers to various health causes, including hospices and cancer research.

Eton Environmental Group Director Joanna Shaefer said: “We’re delighted to be able to support a youth team in the town where Eton began almost 20 years ago and where we still have our head office.

“Many of our staff have children who play grassroots sports, so we know about the great work clubs like Darlington TSC do in our communities, and we wish the team every success.”
