Switching to electric vehicles, increasing recycling, and reducing the amount of paperwork are just some of the factors which has resulted in Eton Environmental Group achieving a globally recognised environmental standard.
We were recently awarded the ISO 14001:2015 accreditation.
This internationally recognised standard is intended to help businesses identify, manage, monitor, and control their environmental performance so their impact on the environment is minimal.
This is particularly important to a company like Eton which works across the UK providing a range of services which helps businesses and organisation comply with the law, including asbestos surveys, legionella risk assessments, and fire risk management assessments
Andrew Graham, Eton Environmental Group’s Quality Manager, said: “We started the process to achieve the standard in March 2021 so to be awarded it in less than 12 months is a fantastic achievement, particularly given we had the continued challenges posed by the pandemic.
“As a company with environmental in its name, it was important we attained this standard because we are committed to lowering our carbon footprint and the overall impact we have on the environment.”
Among the measures already taken are switching to electric or hybrid vehicles, with the company now running several such vehicles and planning to have a fully electric fleet in the future.
It has also reduced the amount of paperwork it uses by moving to electronic documentation and increasing office recycling.
And further plans for the future included installing solar panels at its head office and looking at route planning.
The ISO 14001:2015 accreditation comes less than two years after Eton also achieved ISO 45001:2018, another internationally recognised standard which is designed to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses and drive continuous improvement in the management of occupational safety & health.
Andrew added: “We’re proud of the accreditations we have achieved and plan year-on-year improvement in all areas.
“This will enable us to further grow the businesses as we will be able to demonstrate to potential new customers that we are an environmentally and socially conscious businesses which also makes health and safety our number one priority.”
