A clean office

A clean office not only helps reduce staff sickness and promote a more pleasant working environment – it’s also a legal requirement.

Covid-19 may thankfully now be behind us, but the need for workplaces to undergo a regular deep clean is still very important.

The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations apply to most workplaces and require employers to remove dirt regularly, provide clean premises, furniture and fittings, floors and stairs and keep internal walls or ceilings clean.

And civil cases have shown that nobody is above the law. West Midlands Police faced a compensation and costs bill of £16,000 after an officer successfully sued them for flea bites he suffered in a city centre police station.

Legislation includes all workplaces from general office to workshops. Recently a joinery company found guilty was fined £20,000 for exposing its staff to excessive build up of wood dust.

Several law firms now offer no win no fee advice for anyone suffering an allergic reaction at work. Under the Equality Act 2010 allergy sufferers can be regarded as disabled and employers must take reasonable steps to ensure they are not exposed to allergic triggers which can include dust.

Studies have shown that a clean office is a healthy office and a more productive office, and a twin track approach of regular office cleaning backed up by deep clean including specialist cleaning and decontamination service is ideal.

Eton Environmental Group has years of experience in delivering a deep clean service in office environments, but we have also provided our cleaning services in other areas too. For example, after buildings are comprised by flooding, or where pigeon droppings have become a hazard and need safely cleaning away.

Our specialist cleaning team use the most up-to-date and appropriate safety equipment to protect themselves and our customers, including bio-hazard personal protective equipment, full face respirator masks,  decontamination units and safe disposal of any clinical/hazardous waste.

All work is carried out in accordance with Government guidance, so to discuss your specific deep clean and decontamination needs, please contact us on 01325 366886.
