A company that provides specialist asbestos-management services has marked its 10th anniversary by expanding into Europe.
As part of its ongoing work with the Majestic Wine chain, Eton Environmental Group was recently tasked with carrying our asbestos surveys at the chain’s two stores in Calais, France.
Following the successful completion of the work, Eton is now looking to offer its services across Europe, building on its existing work with blue-chip clients across the UK and Ireland.
The company, which has an office in Datchet, near Windsor, and another in Darlington, County Durham, was set up in 2004 and has grown rapidly, now employing over 50 people across the UK.
Eton Environmental Director Christian Shaefer, who set the company up with his wife Joanna, said: “Over the years we have built up a large and distinguished client base and we are now looking to offer our specialist services across Europe.
“We have experienced excellent growth in the last ten years and as demand for our services grows, we are expecting this to continue further.”
The company provides an asbestos consultancy service to a wide range of managing agents, industrial and retail clients, local authorities and government departments for both commercial and domestic properties.
As well as detecting whether asbestos is present, Eton Environmental Group also has an asbestos testing laboratory in its Darlington office, and the company can create management plans and organise any necessary remedial work. The Health and Safety Executive only advocates removal of asbestos if it is absolutely necessary and in these instances, the company is able to advise clients on the safest way to remove it.
Eton also provides fire risk assessments, Energy Performance Certificates, air testing, soil analysis and recently also launched a new service carrying out inspections and testing for legionella
Among the company’s clients include the River Island clothing chain, the Toni & Guy hairdressing chain, Majestic Wine chain, Tesco supermarket chain, Post Office Limited, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, City of London Council, and Royal Institute of British Architects.
Eton also work with a number of schools, local authorities and housing associations across the UK.
Mr Shaefer added:
“The law requires anyone who maintains non-domestic premises to safely manage any asbestos that may be present in these buildings and when you consider buildings constructed or refurbished before the year 2000 most likely contain some form of asbestos, it is important to choose the right company to carry out surveys and testing.
“We are accredited to the highest national standards and our staff undergoes continuous professional development, so our clients have the peace of mind knowing they have a company that understands the management of asbestos.”
