The Client

Established in 1852, Willmott Dixon is a privately-owned company delivering multi-million pound public and commercial projects, as well as being one of the UK’s largest house builders. It delivers building projects in education, leisure and culture, hotels, offices, health and retail, as well as national frameworks for Government and local authorities. It builds around 2,000 new homes each year, including homes for sale and rent, retirement villages and student accommodation.

The Work

Eton Environmental Group has worked with Willmott Dixon in a full asbestos consultancy capacity for a number of years. We have provided comprehensive asbestos solution services for a range of buildings falling under various divisions of Willmott Dixon, and we are registered with them as a Category ‘A’ Consultant.

One project saw us undertaking refurbishment asbestos surveys to various areas within Hewins School in Hayes. Willmott Dixon had won the contract to refurbish and remodel the existing school to make it ready to become a 420-place Free School. The project required us to work closely alongside Willmott Dixon’s programme of works, for which we had tight timescales and deadlines which needed to be met in order for the project to be completed on target.

The asbestos surveys were carried out in phases to keep in line with programmed refurbishment works. Upon completion of the asbestos surveys, we produced remedial specifications based upon the findings of each survey report and provided full asbestos consultancy services throughout the full remediation project. This included overseeing contractors and full air monitoring services including the four stage clearance process and updating of the asbestos registers.

Eton Environmental Group tendered for, and won, further work to complete asbestos refurbishment surveys to further areas within the Hewins Free School and provided further consultancy services alongside the surveys.

We were also employed by Willmott Dixon to undertake refurbishment and demolition asbestos surveys on another Free School project, this time in West London. A number of buildings, including Palingswick House and Beuafort House, formed part of the West London Free School and we provided full asbestos consultancy services from beginning the surveys, through to project completion of the remediation works.

Upon completion of both projects, Eton Environmental Group has continued to provide Willmott Dixon with comprehensive asbestos consultancy advice.
